Black Paint Shows Everything
Black, dark grey and deep blue are some of the most popular Mercedes-Benz colors. They give the deepest reflections of any paint, and they're also the least forgiving.
On dark paint, the fine circular scratches from washing (swirls) and the dull haze from years of quick wipes catch the light every time the sun hits the car. A silver car can hide them. Obsidian-black paint can't. That's why, on a Mercedes, the prep before the coating matters as much as the coating itself.
A ceramic coating doesn't hide swirls. It seals in whatever is underneath. So the goal is simple: get the paint as clean and clear as it should be, then protect it so it stays that way through Florida sun, lovebug season and regular washing.
Choosing the Right Prep
Gloss Enhancement
Included with every coating. Right for newer, well-kept paint that just needs its gloss brought up before the coating goes on.
1-Step Polish +$250
A full single-stage machine polish. Generally removes 60–70% of paint defects. A good fit for light swirls on a car that's been washed carefully.
2-Step Correction +$400
A cut stage plus a refining polish. Removes 80–95% of imperfections, and it's what we recommend for black paint or heavier swirls.

Every coating and correction is done in our shop, out of the sun and rain, so polish and coating go on cool, clean panels and cure properly. Drop off Monday–Friday between 8 AM and 6 PM and we'll text you when it's ready. We've been doing this around Sarasota since 2021.

How much is a ceramic coating for a Mercedes-Benz?
Sedans and coupes start at $699 (1 Year), $1,250 (3 Year) and $1,500 (5 Year Ultra V3). 2-row SUVs like the GLC, GLE and G-Class are $799, $1,400 and $1,650. 3-row SUVs like the GLS are $899, $1,500 and $1,800. Gloss enhancement is included.
My black Mercedes already has swirls. Will a coating hide them?
No. A coating adds gloss and protection, but it seals in what's underneath. For visible swirls on black paint, we recommend the 2-step correction (+$400) before coating. Lighter swirls may only need the 1-step polish (+$250).
Do you coat AMG models and the G-Class?
Yes. AMG models are priced by size like any other Mercedes: AMG sedans and coupes in the Car tier, the G-Class and 2-row AMG SUVs in the SUV / Truck tier.
Will a ceramic coating help my Mercedes hold its value?
It helps the car present better, and every coating we install is registered on the vehicle's CARFAX report, so buyers can see the paint was professionally protected. The 3 and 5 Year packages also include FEYNLAB®'s manufacturer warranty on eligible vehicles.
Is a ceramic coating the same as paint protection film?
No. PPF is a thick film that absorbs rock chips. A coating is a thin, hard layer that adds gloss, UV and chemical resistance and makes washing easier. It resists light wash marring but won't stop chips. Many owners put PPF on the front end and coat the whole car.
How should I wash a coated Mercedes?
Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap, a clean mitt and two buckets, then dry with clean microfiber. Skip automatic brush washes and harsh degreasers. We'll give you written aftercare for your coating.
